Job summary

Virginia Peninsula Community College seeks an adjunct Electrical Instructor to teach up to 1500 hours per year in Workforce Development. Appointment is part-time with teaching load based on enrollment, no guaranteed continued employment, and classes may be day, evening, or weekend.

Instructor will cover a broad range of electrical topics and collaborate to keep lab facilities current. The role supports the Residential Electrician program, maintains lab inventories, and builds industry pipelines

Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalent.
Significant work experience within the Electrical field.
Prior experience delivering or developing training.
Passion for the discipline and student-centered philosophy.
Excellent interpersonal skills with students and staff.
Willingness to serve diverse traditional and non-traditional students.
Ability to adapt instructional methods to diverse needs.
Plan and organize instruction to maximize learning.
Fairly measure student progress and provide timely feedback.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and grades.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience or interest in teaching adult learners.
Must work at all campus locations.

Responsibilities

Teach NCCER Core, Electrical Levels 1 and 2 courses in Workforce Development.
Instruct students in electrical circuits, wiring, and NEC basics.
Maintain program inventories, consumables, labs, and equipment.
Establish relationships with the electrical industry to ensure relevant training.
