Job description

ADHD Teaching Assistant Secondary School ASAP North London

A leading Secondary School in Newham, North London, is searching for an ADHD Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a child in Year 8 with ADHD (on the mild side of the spectrum). You will support a Year 8 student who has moderate ADHD, capable of functioning at a high level but requiring additional support with behaviour and concentration.

ADHD Teaching Assistant Job Details
  • Job Title: ADHD Teaching Assistant
  • Duty: Working 1:1 with a child in a Year 8 class
  • Contract: Full Time, Long Term (Full Academic Year)
  • Location: Tottenham, North London
  • Rate: £95 - £110 per day (paid weekly)

The ideal candidate:
  • Experience working with students with behavioural challenges, preferably in an educational or special education setting.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and de-escalation methods.
  • Ability to establish rapport and build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
Requirements:
  • Recent SEN experience
  • Valid DBS certificate on the update service (we can provide one if needed)
  • Some knowledge of strategies for working with young people with behavioural issues
  • Basic understanding of SEND and learning barriers
  • Safeguarding experience
