Qualifications

This is an exciting time of development and expansion of the ADHD provision within Lewisham CAMHS. We are looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Nurse Prescriber (or qualified prescribing equivalent) to work clinically and manage a small team.

Main duties of the job

The role includes:

  1. Provide leadership and management support to the ADHD medication review team.
  2. Manage a caseload, providing analysis of complex information for planning and management.
  3. Undertake assessments, including ADHD assessments.
  4. Provide psychoeducation information sessions/groups.
  5. Offer advice and consultation on client care to other members of the service.
  6. Liaise with medical colleagues and partner agencies.
  7. Work autonomously within professional practice guidelines.
  8. Contribute to policy and service development, undertake research, service evaluation and audit.
  9. Work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
Person specification
Qualifications & Registration
  • First level nursing qualification (RMN, RSCN, or HV) with related CAMHS experience.
  • Non-medical prescriber with appropriate NMC registration.
  • All applications will require professional registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council.
  • MSc level qualification or equivalent with evidence of a comprehensive portfolio of post-registration professional development in child and adolescent mental health.
Experience
  • Experience working as an independent non-medical prescriber with a CAMHS service.
  • Experience of clinical leadership and providing clinical support.
  • Experience of CAMHS assessment and ADHD assessments.
  • Experience of consultation and clinical supervision of other staff.
  • Experience of using QI methodology.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Highly specialist knowledge of childhood disorders.
  • Knowledge of legislation and national policy related to mental health issues.
  • Awareness of racial and diversity issues impacting service access.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
