Job description

EIP, Additional 2025 Trainee Patent Attorney Vacancy

Technologies: High-tech areas including control systems, data transfer and manipulation, robotics, manufacturing processing and other physics-based inventions

Due to increasing work demands we are looking for a new trainee patent attorney for a September 2025 start date.

EIP is a global patent firm which specialises in high-value and complex patent matters.

Since 2018 EIP has been a six-time winner of European and UK Patent Contentious Firm of the Year by leading IP magazine, Managing IP while The Financial Times lists EIP as a leading European patent law firm, recently awarding EIP the highest possible ranking (gold stars across all six technology areas – one of only six firms in Europe to receive this accolade). Feedback received from clients and peers rates EIP as “unstuffy and its staff are very personable”, with “excellent technical and legal expertise”, and they “combine an exceptional professional ethic with impressive technical diligence”.

The approach to career development is highly meritocratic, with patent attorneys at all levels receiving support through a sophisticated training program. New trainees get exposure to clients from the day of joining. Those who join us share in the team’s stand-out visibility in the world of patents and get to celebrate our award wins.

About EIP Digital

EIP Digital encompasses a broad technology spectrum including computer hardware, software and machine learning/AI, electronics, wireless and telecommunications, applied physics and optics. Strength in these fields has been at the core of EIP and our continued success since we were founded in 2000.

Renowned for its experience in patent drafting and strategic patent prosecution, and a go-to practice for litigation in high-tech patent cases, EIP’s Digital team has been engaged in many of the highest profile patent litigation cases in the UK and Germany, and oppositions at the EPO, in recent years.

EIP Digital team members are appointed to many high-value matters which require extraordinary levels of expertise, including licensing, technology standards, pre-litigation analysis, and litigation itself, with high rates of success. Many of these members operate at the intersection of various cutting areas such as electronics and health-tech, AI and drug discovery.

About the vacancy

We are looking for strong trainee patent attorneys who are capable of handling work in high-tech areas including control systems, data transfer and manipulation, robotics, manufacturing processing and other physics-based inventions. Successful candidates will have a background in physics and will have ideally applied their physics knowledge in a practical setting.
