Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant for day-to-day cover in Totnes. The role supports children with SEN, including ASC and SEMH, across various classrooms. You will work on a 1:1 or small group basis, following tailored learning plans.

The role runs during term time with school day hours and a September 2026 start. Prior SEN experience and an enhanced DBS update are advantageous for this flexible, on-demand position.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN in schools, care, or community settings.
• Strong communication skills and a calm, patient approach.
• Adaptability for day-to-day, short-term assignments.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and enhanced DBS checks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with EHCPs.
• Follow individual learning plans and adapt to daily routines.
• De-escalate challenging behaviours using positive strategies.
• Assist class teachers to foster an inclusive, safe learning environment.
• Help pupils build confidence, resilience and independence.
