Adaptations Surveyor - London Council

£26.00 PAYE / £33.00 Umbrella (Inside IR35)

36 hours per week

A London Council is seeking an experienced Adaptations Surveyor to join their Social Services Surveying Team. The role focuses on delivering an efficient and customer-focused adaptations service, ensuring all works are completed to a high standard, on budget, and within agreed timescales. This post plays a vital role in improving accessibility and independence for residents across the borough.

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional surveying support for properties requiring adaptations for disabled occupants.
  • Carry out feasibility assessments, design schemes, and prepare specifications and drawings.
  • Conduct pre- and post-inspections to ensure quality, compliance, and alignment with Occupational Therapist recommendations.
  • Prepare documentation for Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) applications.
  • Identify property defects, diagnose causes, and specify appropriate remedies.
  • Manage and monitor projects of varying scales to successful completion.
  • Liaise with residents, contractors, and external partners to resolve technical or service-related issues.
  • Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety, Building Regulations, and CDM requirements.
Requirements
  • HNC/HND in Building Surveying or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Experience delivering adaptations and DFG projects within housing or social care settings.
  • Strong understanding of Building Regulations, H&S, and construction standards.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • DBS clearance required.
