Vision for Education are thrilled to be working in partnership with a fantastic Special School who are currently seeking a dedicated and adaptable Teaching Assistant to join their team on a part-time, ad-hoc basis.

With sites in: Plymouth and Cornwall, this is a large academy that are looking for people to cover last minute day shifts. The hours are 8:30am to 3:30pm. For successful candidates, there would be an app where you can enter the days you are free for work so we can allocate shifts to you. They are a forward-thinking, well renowned special school with exceptional facilities and superb travel links for either those on public transport or with . Their supportive leadership team (SLT) is committed to fostering a nurturing environment that aids both staff and student development.

Key Responsibilities Of Your Role

  • Provide tailored support to a diverse group of students with special educational needs (SEN), assisting in their academic and social development.
  • Work flexibly around your existing work/life commitments, offering support when needed at the school.
  • Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to the various learning styles and abilities of students.
  • Promote a safe and positive learning environment, addressing any behavioural or emotional issues with sensitivity and expertise.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Monitor and track the progress of students, providing feedback to teachers and parents where appropriate.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and contribute effectively to the team.
  • Foster independence in students while providing the necessary support to empower them to achieve their individual goals.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people; previous experience in an SEN setting is preferred but not mandatory.
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN and a passion for helping them to succeed.
  • Proactive, engaging, and compassionate in approach, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly, responding to the varying needs of the school and students.
  • Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to undergo one.
