Job description
Overview

Acute Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist (Band 5) – 12 month contract. Due to maternity leave, we have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and reliable SLT to join the paediatric team at RMCH.

Location: Royal Manchester Children\'s Hospital

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS Trusts in England, delivering a broad range of services across multiple sites and disciplines.

The hospital provides regional and supra-regional services across most clinical paediatric specialties.

The acute paediatric SLT team will support your development with a dedicated clinical supervisor. You will work within our acute team with a delegated and supported caseload of children with a wide range of communication difficulties, and you will form part of an MDT providing holistic care across wards and specialist outpatient clinics.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide assessment and management of children with a comprehensive range of communication needs, liaising with the MDT.
  • Take responsibility for devising, monitoring, and evaluating advice and programmes of care for parents/carers and other professionals.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, providing education, advice and support to patients, parents/carers, and the wider staff team.
  • Exhibit excellent organisational and time management skills, prioritising a busy workload and coping well under pressure.
  • Keep up to date with recent developments and research relevant to the clinical area; contribute to small-scale audits and studies as appropriate.
  • Participate in training and teaching for other students, ward and other care staff.
