Job summary

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is recruiting a Band 3 Health Care Assistant for the Acute Medical Unit (AMU), including MAC and ward B3. The role involves assisting patients with daily living activities and working closely with nursing staff to maintain high standards of care.

The successful candidate will perform venepuncture, cannulation and ECGs, support in patient assessments, and help with discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Willingness to undertake NVQ III in care.
• Experience in a healthcare environment desirable.
• In-house training provided.
• Able to work as part of a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, hygiene, nutrition and mobility.
• Work alongside a nurse and support Band 2 staff.
• Perform venepuncture, cannulation and ECG recordings as required.
• Report significant changes to senior nursing staff and maintain good liaison with patients and colleagues.
• Promote a positive atmosphere and patient independence to aid recovery and reduce length of stay.
