Job description

We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist on the specialist register for forensic or general adult psychiatry, passionate about improving the lives of women with complex mental health needs. Join the team at Arbury Court hospital.

Working 37.5 hours a week, you will provide care and treatment for adult women with a wide range of mental health issues, including delivering care programmes, managing physical and mental health concerns, and providing individualized approaches to care and treatment.

Arbury Court is located outside Warrington, near Liverpool, Manchester, and Chester, with excellent transport links across the North West.

This role includes second on-call duties (currently 1 in 17-18 for full-time consultants) with middle-grade support on the ward. There are opportunities for voluntary paid extra shifts and time off in lieu for on-call work.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Working effectively with patients and colleagues to ensure optimal care and outcomes
  • Driving multidisciplinary care
  • Contributing to service development and governance, e.g., via quality improvement work
  • Building positive relationships with external stakeholders such as ICBs
  • Undertaking psychiatric assessments to determine appropriate care levels
  • Providing evidence at tribunals and hearings
  • Staying updated through conferences and courses

To be successful, you will need:

  • Full GMC registration and Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists
  • To be on (or about to join) the GMC specialist register for forensic or general adult psychiatry
  • Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status
  • Good standing with the Royal College and up-to-date appraisals
