Oliver Wyman is a global leader in management consulting. The Actuarial Practice provides customised actuarial services and strategic insight, supporting clients to exceed their business objectives. The team is growing in the UK and seeks Actuaries (partially or fully qualified) to join the UK team, working closely with our wider management consulting and actuarial teams across Europe and other regions to independently analyse complex problems and develop innovative solutions.

Job Description

You will work alongside Oliver Wyman’s industry leaders and experienced consultants while contributing to a broad range of client projects. You will gain industry exposure with clients including top tier insurance companies, reinsurance companies, investment banks, law firms, regulators, and private equity firms. You will have the opportunity to take initiative and lead on new ideas, leveraging the wider Oliver Wyman and Marsh McLennan networks.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with industry leaders and consultants on a broad range of client projects within the Actuarial Practice.
  • Analyse complex problems and develop innovative actuarial solutions for clients.
  • Lead on new and emerging ideas and contribute to client proposals and delivery.
  • Engage with clients across insurance, reinsurance, financial services, and related sectors.
  • Participate in transformation of actuarial data and processes, system integration, analytics, and reporting.
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of intellectual capital and adoption of data science techniques.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant Life Insurance actuarial experience
  • Either part or fully qualified actuary (FIA or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of finance and/or risk management topics, including Solvency II internal models, ORSA and IFRS 17
  • Strong modelling skills with practical experience in at least one coding language (e.g., R, Python) would be preferred but not essential
  • Understanding of the insurance industry and client challenges
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and able to work in a dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Self-starter with initiative and leadership when appropriate
  • Experience in reinsurance, capital, and M&A projects is highly desirable
