Job summary

AXA UK is seeking an experienced Actuarial professional to lead risk at a strategic level within the Risk team. You will develop and oversee the Product Approval Process for new and material product developments, providing independent opinions and coordinating with Risk & Compliance for a holistic view.

You’ll influence product design, performance, and strategic alignment while conducting independent risk reviews of underwriting, pricing, and portfolio strategies to support effective challenge

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in UK general insurance with pricing background.
• Strong stakeholder management to influence senior decision-makers.
• Excellent interaction skills with Executives, Senior Management and regulators.
• Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting UK insurance.
• Business acumen and self-motivation in high-pressure environments.
• Proven ability to work under time pressure with analytical problem-solving.
• Experience advising on product design, performance and strategic alignment.

Job overview:

We're seeking an experienced Actuarial professional ready to lead at a strategic level within AXA UK's Risk team to partner with the businesses that we support. You’ll develop and oversee the Product Approval Process for new and material product developments, providing independent second opinions and coordinating with Risk & Compliance for a holistic view. You’ll advise on product design, performance, and strategic alignment. You’ll conduct independent risk reviews of underwriting, pricing, and portfolio strategies, supporting effective challenge and decision making.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage and monitor the Product Approval Process, providing second-line opinions and coordinating with Risk and Compliance.
• Conduct independent risk reviews of pricing, claims, and portfolio management to support strategic challenge.
• Support senior leaders in reviewing key projects and providing formal risk opinions on pricing and claims.
• Contribute to risk considerations in strategic planning, ensuring activities align with business goals.
• Develop and maintain underwriting and reinsurance policies.
• Coordinate the implementation of the Risk Management Framework, monitor risk adherence, and assist in action plans to stay within risk appetite.

Work arrangements:

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events. Your skills & experience:

• Extensive experience in UK general insurance, preferably in Retail P&C and/or Private Medical Insurance (PMI) with a background in pricing. Experience in UK Commercial markets is also advantageous.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills to manage key relationships and influence decisions.
• Brilliant interaction skills with Executives, Senior Management and regulators.
• Substantial product and industry knowledge and understanding of regulatory framework.
• Business acumen and self-motivation.
• Proven ability to work under time pressure.
• Analytical problem-solving skills.
