ROLE

Becoming an Actuarial Data Scientist offers the chance to influence cutting-edge machine learning use in insurance and impact our product roadmap at a leading insurtech.

This role involves interaction with Sales, Product, and R&D teams. As a subject matter expert, you will assist the sales team in identifying high-value use cases for Akur8’s software tailored to client needs.

You will collaborate with the Product team to suggest new features and with R&D to explore new ML applications in insurance.

You will directly engage with clients such as Heads of Pricing, Product, CTOs, Actuaries, and Data Scientists, leading product demos and overseeing proof of concept projects in an actuarial consulting capacity.

Additional responsibilities include designing product training, improving model development processes, and leading after-sales technical projects by providing actuarial modeling support. You will also contribute to white papers and participate in conferences to bolster Akur8’s leadership in EMEA and beyond.

This position is based in London, with occasional travel (~one week/month).

PROFILE

The ideal candidate must meet these criteria:

• MANDATORY: 3-10 years experience in P&C / General / Health insurance pricing (Pricing Actuary, Actuarial Consultant, Data Scientist, etc.)
• Understanding insurance business imperatives and devising solutions accordingly
• Strong knowledge of Data Science and Machine Learning techniques for predictive modeling
• Experience with actuarial predictive modeling (GLMs / GAMs) & risk analysis in a P&C insurance context
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Willingness to travel (~one week/month)
