Job summary

NHBC in Milton Keynes/London is seeking an Actuarial Data Analyst to turn insurance data into clear insights and build Power BI reports. The role offers hybrid working with 2 days in the office and the chance to work with Power Query and Snowflake in a collaborative team.

You’ll combine actuarial, data and business insights to support monthly reporting cycles and data system transitions, leveraging strong SQL/DAX skills and insurance knowledge to deliver meaningful visuals.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience using Power BI in a data or MI analyst role.
  • Insurance industry knowledge is essential.
  • Strong SQL and DAX skills; Power Query experience is highly desirable.
  • Degree in maths, statistics or similar numerate discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance Power BI reports for accuracy and consistency.
  • Compare Power BI with legacy Tableau reports for ongoing projects.
  • Run and update monthly reporting cycles.
  • Build new Power BI reports to meet business needs.
  • Use Power Query to optimise reports where possible.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide clear analysis.
  • Assist in migrating data systems from SQL/Access to Snowflake.
  • Work with actuarial, data and business teams to deliver insights.

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 + 6% performance bonus
Working Location: Milton Keynes/London, Hybrid working, 2 days in office

Job Summary

We’re looking for a skilled Actuarial Data Analyst with an eye for detail and a passion for turning complex insurance data into clear, actionable insights. Joining our Actuarial Analytics and Business Insights team, you’ll play a key role in building, maintaining, and improving our Power BI reports, helping the business make confident decisions. This is a great opportunity for someone with insurance industry experience to make a real impact, while also developing their skills in tools like Power Query and Snowflake, with plenty of room for career growth.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Maintaining and enhancing our Power BI reports to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Supporting the comparison of Power BI and legacy Tableau reports for ongoing projects
  • Running and updating monthly reporting cycles
  • Building new Power BI reports to meet business needs
  • Using Power Query to optimise reports (where experience allows)
  • Working with stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide clear, meaningful analysis
  • Helping with the transition of data systems from SQL/Access to Snowflake
  • Collaborating with actuarial, data, and business teams to deliver insight
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience working with Power BI in a data or MI analyst role
  • Insurance industry knowledge (essential) — general insurance preferred, with actuarial experience a plus
  • Strong skills in SQL and DAX, with Power Query experience highly desirable
  • Comfortable with data analysis, validation, and producing clear visualisations
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while collaborating with multiple teams
  • Strong communication skills to explain data findings to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Bonus points for Snowflake or data migration project experience
  • Degree in a maths, statistics, or similar numerate discipline
