You will provide technical expertise and support to the UK Retirement market, particularly in GMP rectification and equalisation, while engaging in various actuarial project work across pension-related initiatives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate and Lead: Work within a multi-disciplinary team on complex defined benefit modelling, using advanced actuarial skills to specialise in UK pension solutions.
  • Quality Assurance: Review calculations to ensure accuracy and clarity, communicating results effectively to consultants and support teams.
  • Drive Improvement: Develop knowledge-sharing initiatives, training, and coordinate process rollouts across locations.
  • Build Relationships: Partner with internal teams for seamless service delivery across Mercer.
  • Support and Develop: Support the development of junior colleagues through performance reviews, training, and personal development plans.
  • Client Engagement: Engage directly with clients on actuarial projects to enhance consulting skills.
  • Project Involvement: Participate in pension scheme valuations, risk assessments, and benefit design projects, applying actuarial techniques to solve complex problems.
  • Team Leadership: Lead team meetings to discuss progress, share insights, and address challenges in GMP rectification and other projects.

Requirements:

  • Qualified or part-qualified actuary
  • Extensive experience in actuarial calculations
  • Strong understanding of UK Defined Benefit pension schemes
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • People management skills

Preferred:

  • Experience in a similar actuarial role, especially in pensions and client support teams.
