Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Actuarial Analyst for a leading insurer in Randburg. You will develop and refine pricing models for new and existing products, support reserving, and apply statistical techniques to forecast outcomes and profitability.

The role combines independent work with collaborative, hybrid team environment. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s in Actuarial Science or related field, are progressing on actuarial exams, and have at least three years’ pricing or reserving experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or related quantitative field.
• Progress towards actuarial exams (SOA/IFoA) is essential.
• Minimum 3 years of actuarial experience in pricing or reserving within insurance.
• Proficiency in actuarial software (Prophet) and coding (R, Python, SQL) and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain pricing models for insurance products.
• Analyze historical data and market trends to inform pricing strategies.
• Perform reserving calculations and analyses for technical provisions accuracy.
• Collaborate with underwriting, finance, and product development to provide actuarial insights.
• Conduct pricing and reserving sensitivity analyses and scenario testing.
• Prepare actuarial reports and presentations for management and regulators.
• Stay updated on industry/regulatory changes and best practices in actuarial science.
• Assist in development of new actuarial methodologies and software.
