Job summary

SCOR in London is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to support the team in acquiring and monitoring profitability of in-force portfolios. You will assist in modelling, develop tools in Excel and R, and help manage longevity risk while liaising with clients and stakeholders.

The role emphasises strong numerical work, problem solving, and excellent communication as you progress through actuarial exams and gain broader business exposure.

Qualifications

  • Good progress with actuarial exams since leaving University.

  • Computer literacy with Word, PowerPoint and Excel (intermediate).
  • Reviewing, maintaining and developing scripts in R.
  • Currently studying towards completing the actuarial exams.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Administration teams in reconciling and troubleshooting complex accounts.
  • Assisting in modelling the in-force blocks of business.
  • Understanding, building and adapting macro-driven premium and annuity claims tools.
  • Using Excel tools to determine current collateral exposures of SCOR and clients.
  • In-force analyses for setting valuation assumptions and pricing bases.
  • Produce MI and KPIs on the in-force business.
  • Building and automating in-force management processes.
  • Standardising and modernising in-force management processes and tools.
  • Developing understanding of risks of longevity business.
  • Support Longevity Account Managers in client issues and relationships.
  • Building relationships across the in-force community.

Job description

This role will support the team in acquiring new business and monitoring its experience and profitability when in-force. Working across a number of areas within the wider team will help the successful candidate develop a breadth of knowledge and skills of the overall business as well as the tools and processes used. Over time there will the flexibility to specialise, depending on experience and specific interests, such as supporting exercises for longevity tenders and basis reviews, undertaking analysis to help support research into longevity bases and tools, as well as supporting the management of the in-force portfolio.

The post holder will be expected to support the senior team in front of clients and other stakeholders, and so will require excellent communication skills and a professional and confident presence.

Key duties and responsibilities

The Actuarial Analyst will be exposed to a wide range of tasks across the whole team including:

  • Assisting the Administration teams in reconciling and troubleshooting the more complex aspects of the regular accounts.
  • Assisting in modelling the inforce blocks of business
  • Understanding, building and adaption of complex macro-driven premium and annuity claims calculation tools
  • Understanding and use of Excel tools that determine the current collateral exposures of SCOR and clients under the terms of the swaps
  • Inforce analyses of inforce deals for the purpose of setting future valuation assumptions, refining future pricing bases and spotting potential treaty breaches and irregularities.
  • Produce Management Information (MI) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on the in-force business
  • Building and automating the in-force management processes
  • Standardise and modernise the in-force management processes and tools
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding of the risks of longevity business
  • Support the Longevity Account Managers in resolving issues with clients in a constructive manner, valuing the importance of our long-term relationships
  • Building relationships across the inforce community of our market
Qualifications

Experience:

Good progress with actuarial exams since leaving University

Strong numerical experience

Necessary Skills:

Professional and confident presence

Computer literacy with special focus on Microsoft Word (Intermediate), PowerPoint (Intermediate) and Excel (Intermediate - familiarity of formulas such as “IF”, “VLOOKUP”, “INDEX”, “MATCH”, “SUMPRODUCT”, “MEDIAN”, “YEARFRAC” )

Reviewing, maintaining and developing scripts in the ‘R’ programming language

Education

Currently studying towards completing the actuarial exams
