Job description

This role includes an RSU allowance of £1,446 per annum on top of your salary.

We are recruiting for an Activity Coordinator to work across both our teams on Kingfisher and Kestrel wards, based at Littlemore Mental Health Centre, for 30 hours per week. You'll deliver a wide range of therapeutic, wellbeing, and social activities for service users.

Kingfisher and Kestrel are low secure wards within Thames House, a unit for females with a diagnosis of mental illness and/or personality disorder. Kestrel is a 10-bed acute and assessment ward, and Kingfisher a 16-bed rehabilitation ward.

You'll organise and facilitate group and individual activities tailored to service users’ needs, helping to build confidence, develop skills, and encourage social interaction. You'll collaborate with the wider multi-disciplinary team and work alongside Activity Coordinators already on the unit to ensure activities are inclusive, meaningful, and support each patient’s recovery journey. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to adapt activities to different needs. We have established effective ways of working with patients to help them identify and reach their goals while keeping them safe and supporting their transition to the community.

If you have experience in activity coordination, a creative mindset, and a commitment to supporting individuals in their recovery, we would love to hear from you!

  • Engage service users on both Kingfisher and Kestrel wards in physical and recreational activities appropriate to their individual needs and abilities.
  • Plan and coordinate an innovative and adaptive programme of activity under the supervision of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Organise and plan service user events in collaboration with MDT colleagues to promote inclusivity.
  • Develop and apply practical and technical skills with service users, based on identified needs or suggestions from the team.
  • Work with service users to improve their mental health, physical health, and wellbeing.
  • Assist in identifying service users’ strengths and needs to plan and implement suitable activities for groups and individuals.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of activities with service users, carers, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Complete PEACE Teamwork and other mandatory training related to the role.
  • Please note, this role involves some weekend work outside core hours (Monday-Friday 9-5).

Please refer to the attached job description for a comprehensive list of duties.
