Job summary

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a full-time Activities Co-ordinator to join Fletcher Ward in Bodmin. The role involves providing meaningful activities for patients and requires flexible working including weekends and evenings.

We welcome applicants who can motivate patients, work with occupational therapy and nursing teams, and have experience in social or recreational activities. This fixed-term post offers a supportive environment and opportunities for development.

Responsibilities

Fletcher Ward is a 17 bed Acute Mental Health Unit, treating functional mental health conditions in a supportive and therapeutic environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team that is forward thinking and innovative.

We are looking for a full time Activity Coordinator to join our team. The post holder will provide meaningful activities for the patients who are admitted to the ward and will require the successful candidate to work flexibly, including weekends and evenings.

Please note:If you are an internal candidate and wanting to apply for this position as a secondment opportunity. Before applying, please ensure you have discussed the post with your current line manager and obtained their agreement to support your release for the duration of the secondment.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who is able to work under their own initiative, to motivate and encourage patients within a positive and active environment. The role will require good motivational and physical activity skills and the ability to use own initiative to provide activities. You will be working closely with the Occupational therapy and Nursing team to provide meaningful activities for patients.

Qualifications and proven experience in vocational activities, arts or complementary therapies, horticulture etc. would be welcome. Candidates should have an interest in group work with an understanding of the value of structure and activity in improving mental health.

Person specification
