Job summary

Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a post holder to deliver a range of recreational activities that are accessible and meaningful for service users. You will help individuals exercise choice in how to structure their time and provide enjoyment and satisfaction through participation in current interests or new activities.

• Deliver a range of recreational activities accessible to service users.

• Develop and support service users to engage in programmes of physical and creative activity across the unit.
• Engage service users in group or individual sessions; work with nursing and occupational therapy teams to contribute to a 7-day programme including evenings.
• Encourage self-occupation and autonomous activity.
• Support service users during treatment by promoting activity for mental health and offering emotional and functional support.

Job description

The post holder will deliver a range of recreational activities which are accessible and meaningful to service users in order to:

*help individuals exercise choice in how to structure their time

*provide a sense of enjoyment and satisfaction

*offer opportunity to take part in current interests or develop new ones and therefore contribute to their own recovery.

The post holder will develop and support service users to engage in programmes of physical and creative activity meeting the needs of service users of varying functional and physical ability.

The post holer well engage service users, across the unit, in group or individual sessions. Working alongside the nursing and occupational therapy teams, to contribute to a 7-day programme which includes evenings.

The post holder will encourage and support service users with self-occupation and autonomous activity.

The post holder will support service users during their treatment in hospital by instilling the importance of activity for mental health and offering emotional and functional support when required.
