Job description

Newry Street Unite (NSU) are recruiting an Activity Coordinator to promote centre activities to address social conditions and the general health & wellbeing of local residents in the Newry Street area of Kilkeel.

Responsibilities
  • Scheduling and managing an ongoing programme of user groups and activities in the NSU Community Centre, meeting with local need/demand for activities and services.
  • Undertaking outreach and partnership work to attract and secure new activities and user groups to the community centre, to achieve maximum occupancy and increased sustainability of the NSU community centre.
  • Proactively engaging with local residents to create programmes, activities and deliver services that meet the needs of the local people.
  • Managing and coordinating community events throughout the year.
  • Working in partnership with local agencies on projects and initiatives aimed at improving the conditions of life for people in the Newry Street area.
  • Assisting the Community Development Worker with running the community centre on a daily basis.
  • Providing monthly written plans and progress reports to the NSU Management Committee.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to policies and procedures within the building.
  • Promoting and publicising the work of NSU through a variety of audiences.
  • Representing Newry Street Unite at meetings, forums and events as necessary.
  • Carrying out administrative duties associated with the role.
  • Undertaking any other duties, consistent with the role, which may be required from time to time.
Skills and Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent at Grades A-C including Maths and English.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ demonstrable experience in the last 5 years working or volunteering in a community or voluntary setting.
  • Experience working with a range of partners on delivering projects for community benefit.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Packages.

Salary: £25,974 pro rata. Fixed term contract for 12 months with potential for extension subject to funding.
