Job summary

Care South in Bournemouth is seeking an Activities Assistant to plan and deliver an ongoing programme of social activities for residents, including those living with dementia.

You will support wellbeing and enjoyment through a varied calendar, encourage independence, assist during mealtimes, and build genuine relationships with residents. Flexible hours are available, with part-time and full-time options; you will join a friendly team dedicated to compassionate, person-centred care.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Activities Assistant to join the team at Talbot View, our residential care home, located in Bournemouth BH10 4HG. In this role you will be responsible for helping to plan and deliver an on‑going programme of social activities for the home's residents.

• Supporting the delivery of a varied and engaging programme of social and therapeutic activities tailored to our residents’ interests and needs, including those living with dementia.
• Helping to plan and run a calendar of events that promotes wellbeing, connection, and enjoyment.
• Observing and responding to residents’ changing needs, raising any concerns with the care team as appropriate.
• Assisting during mealtimes to create a calm, sociable, and enjoyable dining experience.
• Encouraging and supporting residents to maintain independence and participate actively in daily life.

Hours: Flexible part‑time and full‑time opportunities available.

• Option 1 – Part‑time: 15.25 hours per week, with flexible shifts between 9:00am‑2:00pm or 12:00pm‑7:00pm, including alternate weekend working.
• Option 2 – Full‑time: 30.5 hours per week, with flexible shift times between 9:00am and 7:00pm, including alternate weekend working.

For both options, specific shift times and working patterns will be discussed and agreed with the Care Home Manager at interview.
