Job summary

Wickmeads, a residential care home in Bournemouth, is seeking an Activities Assistant to deliver engaging activities for residents. The role is based at 2 Wickmeads Road, Tuckton, with a pay of £12.85 per hour and 30 hours per week, including alternate weekend work, shifts 8:30–16:00 with occasional 14:00–20:00.

You will support a varied programme, plan events to promote wellbeing, observe residents' needs, assist during meals, and encourage independence within a warm, collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• We are unable to offer visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of a varied and engaging programme of activities for residents, including those living with dementia.
• Help plan and run a calendar of events to promote wellbeing and enjoyment.
• Observe residents' changing needs and raise concerns with the care team.
• Assist during mealtimes to create a calm, sociable, and enjoyable dining experience.
• Encourage residents to maintain independence and participate in daily life.

About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Activities Assistant to join the team at Wickmeads, our residential care home located in Southbourne, near Bournemouth.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the delivery of a varied and engaging programme of social and therapeutic activities tailored to our residents’ interests and needs, including those living with dementia.
• Helping to plan and run a calendar of events that promotes wellbeing, connection, and enjoyment.
• Observing and responding to residents’ changing needs, raising any concerns with the care team as appropriate.
• Assisting during mealtimes to create a calm, sociable, and enjoyable dining experience.
• Encouraging and supporting residents to maintain independence and participate actively in daily life.

You’re a warm, energetic, and outgoing individual who enjoys engaging with people and creating meaningful experiences. You have excellent communication skills and a natural ability to connect with individuals of all ages and backgrounds. You possess strong time‑management and organisational abilities, can plan and coordinate multiple activities, and adapt to changing needs.
