Job summary

Birchstone Care is seeking a dedicated Lifestyles and Well-being Lead to plan, deliver, and evaluate entertainment for residents. You will supervise Lifestyles and Activities Assistants, coordinate events, and liaise with the Home Manager and families to maximise resident engagement and enjoyment.

You will ensure varied activities, maintain records, and support safeguarding policies while promoting a safe and interactive home environment.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in Lifestyles/Activities roles is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming and friendly environment to encourage attendance and participation of residents in planned events.
  • Engage and inspire activities and liaise with the wider team and external entertainers.
  • Support and supervise Lifestyles and Well-being Assistants.
  • Ensure a variety of activities are available in communal areas for residents to engage with.
  • Coordinate resident, committee and families meetings and act on feedback.
  • Oversee events in the home and liaise with the Home Manager.
  • Maintain daily records of participation and outcomes in Nourish.
  • Plan resident trips and ensure activities suit diverse abilities and needs.
  • Safeguard residents and follow safeguarding policies at all times.
  • Attend staff meetings and ongoing training.

Job description

At Birchstone Care we are committed to providing a safe, secure, happy and comfortable home, promoting a high standard of care and an understanding of individual needs to offer support and choice as required.

We are seeking a dedicated professional Lifestyles and Well-being Lead to plan, deliver and evaluate the program of entertainment for residents in the home, including group activities, clubs, one-to-one interactions, special events and trips out of the home. Effectively support, supervise and direct Lifestyles and Activities Assistants in their role(s). Ensure effective use of resources and provision of items of interest for residents to interact with independently or supported by care colleagues outside of the planned program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a welcoming and friendly environment to encourage attendance and participation of residents in planned events.
  • Engage and inspire activities, projects and engagement with the wider team, the community and external entertainers, including all departments in the home.
  • Provide support, training and guidance for Lifestyles and Well-being Assistants.
  • Ensure a variety of items of interest and activities are available in communal areas for care colleagues to use to engage residents outside of planned events.
  • Liaise with colleagues to ensure that residents are supported to get the maximum benefit from their chosen activities.
  • Liaise with external entertainers and stakeholders to connect the home to the community.
  • Organise and oversee events in the home, liaising with the Home Manager.
  • Ensure that daily records of participation in events or activities, and the outcomes for residents are recorded on Nourish.
  • Ensure that residents are offered one-to-one meaningful engagement if they are unable or unwilling to join group events.
  • Actively seek and record feedback and suggestions from residents and relatives about the events and lifestyle opportunities available in the home.
  • Coordinate Resident, committee and families meetings in the home.
  • Demonstrate that the feedback received from residents and relatives is used to inform the planning of the monthly events calendar.
  • Encourage and assist residents to make use of outdoor space in the Homes grounds.
  • Prepare rooms and required equipment to enable successful delivery of the planned events program.
  • Plan and support with resident trips out of the home.
  • Be familiar with residents to ensure that activities are achievable for a range of abilities and support needs.
  • Understand our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of residents by promptly reporting any concerns of abuse, neglect, or exploitation, and by following company safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
  • Maintain the required standards of confidentiality.
  • Attend relevant staff meetings and training as required.
Requirements
  • GCSE English or equivalent
  • Previous experience in Lifestyles / Activities role
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to engage with individuals and groups to create a sense of involvement and purpose.
  • Ability to remain calm and prioritise tasks in a busy environment
  • Familiarity with Facebook and social media best practices
  • Competent with basic computer software, such as Word, web based systems etc
