Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited in the United Kingdom is seeking an Active Travel Project Manager to deliver the Council’s Active Travel Capital Programme in Taunton, Somerset. You’ll manage transport and active travel infrastructure projects valued at over £9 million, guiding them from development through to pre-construction and onto construction delivery using NEC project management principles.

The role is a 29‑month contract with funding until the end of the 28/29 financial year.

Qualifications

• Significant experience managing infrastructure or active travel projects.
• Experience leading projects through planning, design, procurement and delivery.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and multiple workstreams.
• Experience with public sector governance and project management methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Support the Service Manager and Principal Transport Planner in developing and delivering active travel and transport infrastructure schemes.
• Lead projects through development, design, scheme preparation, and pre-construction phases.
• Manage projects on a day-to-day basis until transition to construction delivery and NEC project management arrangements.
• Work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop robust and deliverable schemes.
• Coordinate consultation and engagement activities with communities, elected members, partners, and statutory bodies.
• Support compliance with funding requirements, design standards, and Active Travel England guidance.
