Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Colchester to deliver letters and parcels, working outdoors and across a rotating shift including Sundays. You will drive a Royal Mail van and walk routes, building relationships with customers while staying active in the community.

The role is physically demanding, with training provided, a uniform and a red van. Overtime is paid, and the contract is fixed-term for 24 months.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence with a maximum of 6 penalty points.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated.
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.
• Customer-focused with pride in delivering great service.
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently.

Responsibilities

• Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office.
• Deliver post by van and on foot in your local area.
• Build relationships with customers.
• Work outdoors in all weathers.
• Deliver high volumes of parcels, especially during peak periods.
