Job summary

GCIL North Lanarkshire is seeking a warm, energetic Personal Assistant to support a 10-year-old autistic boy in Coatbridge. The role focuses on helping Kai get out, have fun, and stay safe during activities at home and in the community.

You will travel with him to parks, swimming, museums and other activities; some personal care is required, and driving license with access to a car are strongly preferred. PVG clearance will be required before starting.

Qualifications

• Patient and calm; able to adapt when things don’t go to plan.
• Energetic and active; comfortable with outdoor and active outings.
• Experience with autism or additional support needs is helpful but not essential; willingness to get to know Kai matters most.
• PVG Scheme membership will be required before starting.

Responsibilities

• Spend time with Kai at home and in the garden, and in indoor play.
• Take Kai out to parks, swimming, museums and other activities.
• Provide close supervision while allowing Kai some freedom to explore.
• Assist with personal care such as changing nappies and dressing.
• Learn Kai’s communication approaches and plan activities Kai might enjoy.
