Job Overview

North Northamptonshire Council – NN Leisure team is looking to appoint an Active Communities Worker to join our Active Families team. The programme supports residents to participate in physical activity, make positive lifestyle changes and encourage regular long‑term participation to improve their health, mental and physical wellbeing. The post is part-time, 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver a varied activity programme for families and residents across North Northamptonshire, leading or supporting other team members on different sports, exercise and play activities.
  • Support the management and delivery of the annual large‑scale Active Families “Fundays” events held during the summer months.
  • Assist the Active Communities Team with the delivery of Sportsleaders courses and other training development sessions, supporting community learners and volunteers.
  • Provide administrative support and develop evaluation reports for the Active Families project.
Qualifications & Experience
  • At least one Level 2 or above qualification in play, sport or exercise-based learning (e.g. Play Leader, NGB, ETM, Personal Instructor).
  • Experience of coaching/instructing and delivering sessions to a variety of age groups and adapting sessions for all abilities.
  • Confident, outgoing, passionate and capable of making sessions fun, progressive and educational.
  • Ability to travel to various locations across Northamptonshire (Corby, Kettering, East Northants, Wellingborough) and work early evenings and weekends where required.
