Job summary

PK Education is recruiting for an Acting Head of Design Technology at a Barnsley secondary school for the Autumn Term. The role focuses on leading the Design Technology department, overseeing KS4 Engineering delivery, and ensuring high standards in teaching and learning.

You will work with Senior Leadership and the Technology faculty to drive curriculum delivery, monitor student progress, and maintain excellent workshop provision with strong technician support.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
• Experience teaching Design Technology, Engineering, Product Design or Resistant Materials.
• Previous middle-leadership experience or readiness to step into leadership roles.
• Strong organisational and communication skills are essential.
• Confident in leading a team and maintaining high expectations.

Responsibilities

• Teach predominantly KS4 Engineering.
• Act as Acting Head of Design Technology for the Autumn Term.
• Lead the department on a day-to-day basis.
• Support curriculum delivery and maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
• Monitor student progress and achievement.
• Collaborate with Senior Leadership and the wider Technology faculty.
