Actemium Mechanical - Pipe Fitter, Daventry
Actemium specializes in the bespoke design and fabrication of process-related projects, operating under BS EN1090 classifications. We are seeking a competent Pipe Fitter to join our team.

About the role
Reporting directly to the Manufacturing/Works Manager, your duties will include:
- Reading and interpreting engineering piping drawings, P&ID & GA drawings, and product specifications, including understanding welding symbols to determine build sequence, fabrication, and assembly methods.
- Layout and mark dimensions and reference information on materials.
- Completing pipe spool weld set-ups.
General responsibilities
- Follow company rules and adhere to procedures and health and safety standards.
- Work with various material grades such as stainless steel, carbon steel, low temp, chrome moly, etc.
- Travel between workshop and site to deliver projects as required.
- Collaborate with team members to produce orders on time.
- Ensure tolerances and parameters meet quality and output standards.
- Prepare and process materials prior to assembly.
- Check products for compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
- Follow established quality control procedures and documentation standards.
- Inspect plant and equipment before and after use, reporting faults or defects.
- Meet production timelines.
- Reinstate work areas following activities.
- Travel to sites as needed.
The Person
- Perform pipe fitting operations to a high standard with 100% visual inspection.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Experience working with various material thicknesses and grades.
- Additional fitting experience is advantageous.
- Capable of managing projects from start to completion independently.
- Experience in sectors such as gas & oil, petrochemical, automotive, water, food, and beverage.
Skills
- Proficient in various fitting and fabrication techniques for small and large bore pipes (up to 36”).
- Safe use of equipment like abrasive wheels and grinders.
- Fabricate, assemble, install, repair, and maintain plant and equipment.
- Effective communicator at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
- Work safely with minimal supervision.
Qualifications (Desirable)
- Time-served apprenticeship.
- City & Guilds Parts 1, 2 & 3 or BTEC ONC equivalent qualification.
