Job description

Role: Software Controls Engineer - Water Sector

Location: Waterlooville, Hampshire

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hrs per week, flexible hours

Salary range: £40,000 - £52,000 (experience dependent)

About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Software Controls Engineer to work in our Water Sector.

Reporting to the Sector Project Manager, the role involves supporting and delivering automation projects for the company’s key accounts.

The role includes developing PLC, HMI, and SCADA software on projects within a fast-paced and evolving industry sector. It also involves customer-facing duties and site work.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Produce and modify PLC, HMI, and SCADA software according to customer standards and design specifications.
2. Advise customers on automation solutions and best practices for control system architectures.
3. Conduct site surveys and assist with project quotations, including engineering time and materials.

The Person:

• Good working knowledge of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems from OEMs such as Rockwell, Schneider, Mitsubishi, Aveva Wonderware, and Beijer.
• Knowledge of setting up, commissioning, and fault-finding industrial networks.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematic diagrams from industrial environments.
• Awareness of standards relevant to the water sector.
