About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Control Systems Engineer.

Design, test, and commission control systems in accordance with company, customer, and legislative requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

Team

  • Mentor and coach junior staff.
  • Liaise with customers and internal design/management team.
  • Prepare and review control system design, build, testing specifications, and O&M manuals to the required standard.
  • Design and test control systems according to specifications, standards, and legislative requirements.
  • Provide technical supervision during system design, build, and installation.
  • Support project planning, progress estimation, tendering activities, and technical proposals.

Specialism

  • Develop control system software to meet project needs.
  • Support development and rollout of software standards.
  • Onsite commissioning and testing of control systems.
  • Review control system design and testing for compliance.

General

  • Work with project management to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery.
  • Ensure control systems are designed and tested per standards and requirements.
  • Maintain records and ensure safe operation of equipment.
  • Follow company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate.

The Person:

  • Qualified to HNC/HND/degree level in a relevant discipline with extensive or substantial experience in system integration.
  • Ability to produce and understand control system design documents.
  • Familiar with programming environments like CodeSys, Straton, Beckhoff.
  • Experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA, and high-level programming languages.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols, system testing, machinery safety standards, and onsite commissioning.
  • Experience with industrial hardware systems and control panel design.
  • Background in industrial automation, preferably in water/wastewater, oil & gas, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Experience with platforms like Beijer, Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, Wonderware, and Mitsubishi.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Ethernet and protocols like DeviceNet, Profibus, ProfiNe.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and teamwork skills.
  • Self-motivated, professional, and accountable.
