Key Responsibilities – Graduate Automation Engineering

• Support the design, development and implementation of automation systems, including PLC, SCADA and HMI solutions.
• Assist with configuration, programming and testing of control solutions in line with client specifications and project requirements.
• Work alongside senior engineers and project managers to deliver high‑quality automation projects from initial concept through to commissioning and handover.
• Participate in the preparation of technical documentation, including functional design specifications, test documents and operation manuals.
• Contribute to site surveys and site‑based commissioning activities, ensuring systems meet performance, safety and quality standards.
• Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for clients’ automation systems as required.
• Promote and comply with all Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality requirements in line with company and client procedures.

Essential Skills & Qualifications for Graduate Automation Engineering

• Degree (or about to graduate) in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
• Keen interest in automation, control systems and digital technologies.
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical and fault‑finding skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities to interact with teams and clients.
• Competence with Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn specialist automation software and tools.
• Collaborative approach and readiness to work within project teams on client sites as required.
• Full, valid UK driving licence or willingness to obtain one (desirable).
• Eligibility to work in the UK; please note we are unable to sponsor visas for this role.

Desirable Knowledge and Additional Attributes

• Experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider or similar) through academic projects, placements or internships.
• Familiarity with SCADA/HMI platforms and industrial networking.
• Understanding of electrical drawings and engineering documentation.
• Proactive, adaptable and committed to ongoing learning and professional development.
