Job Description

As an Acquiring Products Risk Specialist within our second line Risk Management Function, you will focus on helping product and operations teams understand and manage their risks, conducting risk reviews and deep dives, and supporting oversight and advice. Your primary focus will be on Teya’s acquiring product loss prevention, including delayed delivery, fraud loss, and credit exposure.

Key areas of focus
  • Extensive experience in merchant acquiring industry roles related to risk, compliance, fraud, underwriting, or AML.
  • Experience in assessing and developing controls to minimize and mitigate merchant acquiring risks.
  • Background in evaluating controls and proposing new rules to reduce fraud losses.
Responsibilities

Provide expertise on merchant acquiring loss prevention and risk mitigation, supporting the organization in minimizing operational risks, especially those inherent to our products, and assisting first-line risk leaders with risk management.

  • Monitor and assess risks, challenge and guide risk leaders, and manage risk control frameworks.
  • Build and monitor risk metrics, define targets, and support improvements.
  • Develop strategies to minimize losses from fraud, chargebacks, refunds, insolvency, etc., collaborating with Product, Data, Engineering, and other stakeholders.
  • Enhance onboarding and underwriting procedures for higher-risk merchants, with ongoing risk assessments.
  • Support new product and jurisdiction launches, including status and metrics reporting to internal and external risk committees.
  • Assist the CRO and risk team with other activities as needed.
Qualifications
  • Expertise in merchant acquiring loss prevention and risk mitigation.
  • Experience working within UK and EU regulatory regimes.
  • Risk management experience from second- or third-line control functions is preferred.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and resilient with strong communication skills.
  • Several years of professional operational risk management experience, ideally in a regulated entity.

  • Experience managing daily risks across stakeholders.
  • Background in risk management of similar entities.
  • Data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with SQL, data warehouse tools, or risk management software.
  • Proactive learning and change management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and capability to deliver under pressure.
