Job summary

MSS Water Ltd in Newport is seeking an Acid Attendant to join our team on-site at Llanwern. This full-time, permanent role supports the effluent treatment and pickle line processes, with 4 on/4 off 12-hour shifts (days and nights) across 7 cycles.

Responsibilities include monitoring and sampling acid baths, managing lime dosing, equipment checks, and safety audits. A CCNSG or similar and a UK driving licence are preferred, with training available.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated competence through training records and experience.
  • Ability to work alone while adhering to strict quality control systems and operational procedures.
  • Ability to work as part of a team when required.
  • Proficiency in basic IT applications including MS Word and Excel.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Hold CCNSG (training can be provided if required).

Responsibilities

  • Undertake operational tasks to enable the effluent plant and pickle line to run efficiently.
  • Monitor and replace acid inhibitor.
  • Drain and fill pickle line tanks and rinse tanks.
  • Manually start and stop steam lines.
  • Receive acid and lime deliveries.
  • Monitor and drain sumps and bunds.
  • Sample acid baths; titrate pickle line bath samples.
  • Transfer ferrous chloride solution and clean filters.
  • Check neutralisation tanks and lime dosing.
  • Inspect pickle lines and deal with spills.
  • Carry out safety and housekeeping audits.
