Job summary

Brompton Hall School is seeking an Achievement Support Assistant to help pupils with complex needs. The role runs 39 weeks per year, 32.5 hours per week (term time plus 5 training days) and focuses on behavioural support and Thrive-based approaches.

The successful candidate will engage with small groups, support learning, and work closely with staff to create an inspiring environment for pupils aged 8–16 with SEMH needs.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or equivalent.
• Experience of working with or caring for children.
• NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant Qualification is not essential but may be preferred.

Brompton Hall School is based within private grounds in the pretty village of Brompton-by-Sawdon and is a Special Education School for pupils aged between 8 and 16 years.

Our Pupils

We are a specialist school for pupils aged 8 to 16 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Our pupils join us from mainstream schools because they benefit from a setting that can provide additional behavioural support and a more personalised approach to helping them succeed.

We use a therapeutic approach called Thrive to help support children and young people with their emotional and social development.

The Thrive approach offers practical strategies and techniques, built around online assessments that identify children’s emotional development and provides action plans for their individual needs.

Research has shown that how we behave is linked to how we feel, and our emotions are linked to how we learn. By teaching children to recognise and notice these feelings and emotions it can help with their development and learning.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• GCSE English and Maths Grade C / 4 (or equivalent - eg Certificate in Adult Literacy / Numeracy Level 2)
• Experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age
• NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant Qualification is not essential but may be preferred
