Job description
Overview

We are looking to appoint a dynamic and efficient Achievement Coach who will coordinate, monitor and support a cohort of learners throughout their learning journey. The post involves working with the exams team to ensure examination arrangements are accurately completed, and collaborating with subject teachers and a wide range of staff to ensure each learner has an individualised timetable and personal plan to facilitate progression.

The successful candidate will provide non-academic and skills development support and guidance to learners. You must be passionate about supporting young people within a college/school environment with a focus on progression and achievement.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, monitor and support a cohort of learners throughout their learning journey.
  • Work with the exams team to ensure all examination arrangements are accurately completed.
  • Collaborate with subject teachers and other staff to develop individualised timetables and personal plans to facilitate progression.
  • Provide non-academic and skills development support and guidance to learners.
  • Lead group tutorial sessions and deliver most tutorial content to groups, ensuring learners are engaged and supported.
  • Meet with each learner at least half-termly to conduct formal reviews and ensure progress is on track; initiate proactive interventions where needed.
  • Contribute to co-ordinating engineering year plans, wider learning activities, and liaising with specialist services internally and externally to promote learner retention, achievement and academic skills, while building learner resilience.
  • Build positive relationships with staff and learners through effective communication and organisational skills; apply appropriate challenge to help learners achieve their potential.

Qualifications / Requirements
  • Energy, enthusiasm and a clear passion for making a difference in helping young people succeed.
  • Ability to lead group sessions, engage, motivate and support learners both individually and in groups.
  • Excellent communication, administrative and organisational skills; ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Ability to work with staff and learners across engineering, automotive, fabrication and welding, liaising with internal and external specialist services.
  • Willingness to apply challenge to learners to enable them to achieve their full potential.
