Job description

We have a great opportunity for a registered Accuracy Checking Technician (ACT) based at Alcura in Northampton (NN4 7PU). This role is in support of Alcura, a Cencora business offering pharma and patient support services in Europe.

To work as part of an enthusiastic and highly motivated Homecare Pharmacy team, to deliver an organised, efficient and accurate dispensing service which exceeds customer expectation by your dedication to patient care.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Perform the required roles and responsibilities of an Accuracy Checking Technician within the Alcura Pharmacy, under the direction of the Responsible Pharmacist. Ensure compliance with current legislation and professional guidance and to provide support to the rest of the Pharmacy Team.
  • Under the guidance of the Pharmacy Management Team, assist in the coordination and organisation of the workflow within the Dispensary and Prescription Processing teams, with a key responsibility for the Low/Mid Tech prescription processes.
  • Assist in conducting formal and informal training to Pharmacy Team members as needed.
  • Assist in query resolution for any pharmacy related queries, with a key responsibility for the timely resolution of any Mid and Low Tech prescription queries, which will involve communicating professionally both internally and externally with patients, customers and colleagues.
  • Assist in the implementation of any corrective and preventative actions as needed to ensure patient safety is maintained.
  • Undertake training as needed and required for your role in full and on time, ensuring all key competencies are achieved so that excellent standards of service are maintained.
  • Provide support where required, including undertaking dispensing work in line with current legislation and company policy.
  • Maintain GPHC registration at all times. Undertake regular CPD and relevant training to ensure an up-to-date knowledge of new and existing therapeutic areas.
  • Work closely with other members of the Pharmacy Team in reviewing current processes within the department to ensure that it operates effectively, safely and efficiently.
  • Assist the Superintendent Pharmacist and Pharmacy Management Team in delivering the pharmacy customer service, safety, cost and quality objectives.
  • When required, assist the Pharmacy Management team to complete CAPA investigations for complaints and incidents through Q-Pulse, helping with the implementation of appropriate preventative actions where needed.
  • Provide drug and technical information to other members of the Alcura Team, patients and healthcare professionals, to provide the best possible service where knowledge and experience permits.
  • To help the site management ensure the security of the personnel, premises and stock at all times, following established procedures and protocols.
Requirements
  • Qualified GPHC registered Pharmacy Technician with accuracy checking qualification
  • Good organisational skills preferably with experience in a variety of pharmacy environments
  • Good computer literacy
  • Good communication skills, able to articulate intermediate clinical conversations
  • Proven and solid work performance and accuracy record
  • Good customer service skill.
  • Experience of working within a variety of pharmacy settings (desirable)
  • Understanding of Homecare Pharmacy (desirable)

This role is Monday to Friday working 8 hours per day between the hours of 9.30am and 6.00pm.
