Qualifications

To coordinate & manage end to end the receipt, processing and dispatch of prescriptions for controlled drugs. To accurately check dispensed items and provide leadership within the team.

Hours: 10:00-19:00 Mon-Fri

Key Duties

  • Carry out accuracy checking of dispensed items (controlled drugs) whilst adhering to the company's standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Supervise the dispensary team to ensure everyone is carrying out their jobs correctly.
  • Reviewing prescription requirements and liaising with the clinic and prescribers to resolve any issues
  • Answer queries on the supply and availability of medicines as well as answering queries of a routine pharmaceutical nature and know when it is appropriate to refer a patient to the Responsible Pharmacist.
  • Assist with counselling patients on their medication and patient engagement to the service.
  • Ensure that Patient Medication Records (PMR's) are maintained accurately to ensure patient safety and accurate record of supply whilst complying with current data protection requirements.
  • Liaising with other healthcare professionals to assist in the continuity of patient care and streamline the prescription process.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of medicines by reading journals, product information, training resources and ensure CPDs are carried out.
  • Selecting, labelling and dispensing pharmaceutical products in accordance with a prescription (whilst following company SOP's) and complying with all legal requirements as appropriate when not providing accuracy checking and ensure safe and correct transfer of dispensed items to patients
  • To answer queries on the supply and availability of medicines (within competence) and to be able to select and recommend suitable products and provide advice on their correct use.
  • To identify medicine related problems or queries and bring these to the attention of the pharmacist
  • With regards to stock control, ensure stock is received in accordance with SOP's, ensure stock is stored appropriately and safely and maintain reasonable stock levels within the dispensary and ensure date checking processes are complied to and reduce wastage.

  • Keep lead times as short as possible from receipt of order to dispatch
  • Responding to patient queries within the hour
  • All orders have been acknowledged within an hour of receipt
  • All delivery dates have been confirmed back within an hour of confirmation of order
  • Monitoring orders on a daily basis and contacting the customer before they contact us.
  • All orders received up until 4pm need to be processed for dispatch on the same day.
  • Spotting and avoid errors.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office
  • Experience of using SAP would be an advantage
