Our clients Care Team is dedicated to representing the interests of children, parents, and other family members in public law proceedings.
Due to continued success, our client are seeking an experienced Care Solicitor and Court Advocate to join their highly regarded Public Law Children & Family Team. The successful candidate will hold the Law Society Children Law Accreditation (Children Panel) and have a strong background in care proceedings and advocacy. This role involves a mix of legal representation, court advocacy, and client care, with a focus on delivering outstanding service to vulnerable clients.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct and manage a full caseload of public law children matters, including care proceedings, supervision orders, and emergency protection applications.
Represent children (via their guardians), parents, and other family members in complex care cases.
Undertake your own advocacy in the Family Court and High Court, where appropriate.
Liaise effectively with guardians, social services, expert witnesses, and other professionals.
Provide advice, representation, and support to clients in a compassionate and professional manner.
Maintain high standards of file management and comply with SRA and Legal Aid Agency requirements.
Supervise and support junior members of the team (if applicable).
Contribute to the ongoing development of the Care Team and the firm as a whole.
Qualified Solicitor with current practising certificate.
Law Society Children Law Accreditation (Children Panel).
Significant experience in care proceedings and public law children matters.
Proven experience in advocacy in the Family Court.
Excellent knowledge of child protection law, family procedure rules, and legal aid processes.
Strong client care skills, especially with vulnerable clients and children.
Ability to manage a complex and demanding caseload efficiently.
Commitment to access to justice and high standards of legal service.
Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
High Court advocacy experience.
Ability to contribute to training, public legal education, or pro bono initiatives.
