Job description

Do you have a background in podiatry or quality assurance within education and training? The Royal College of Podiatry (RCPod) is embarking on a new Quality Assurance (QA) Programme that requires the proficiency of registered podiatrists, individuals with experience in organizing podiatry schools, and lay persons with knowledge of quality assurance principles.

As part of the RCPod’s work, the Education team is responsible for accrediting pre-registration courses leading to podiatry degrees registered by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and overseeing the academic component of post-registration training, such as podiatric surgery. Our reviewers provide specialist input and help us assess how organizations and CPD courses meet our standards. They also contribute to governance processes to ensure high-quality and relevant CPD content.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Clinical academic in podiatry (serving as the Team Leader)
  • Podiatrist (not based within a podiatry school)
  • Recent podiatry graduate (within the last 2 years)
  • Lay person (non-podiatrist; may have QA experience elsewhere; experience in undergraduate allied health or apprenticeship education; providing an external perspective and representing non-podiatrist stakeholders)

We especially welcome applications from those with teaching and assessment experience.

The role of Accreditation Reviewer is diverse. Successful applicants will participate in various quality assurance activities over a 12-month period, including visits to one of the 16 podiatry schools across the UK and Ireland, interviews with students, and detailed review of relevant information. Reviewers will assist the Education Team in evaluating the quality of podiatry education and CPD opportunities. Attendance at face-to-face meetings is required.

We offer an honorarium of £370 per day, which includes reading time. Team leaders will receive an additional £50 per quality activity. Reasonable expenses will also be reimbursed.
