Job summary

Butler Rose is assisting an established firm of Chartered Accountants in Basildon to recruit an Accounts Trainee. You will help prepare statutory accounts for a varied client portfolio, assist with bookkeeping, and support VAT compliance while developing practical accounting skills through on‑the‑job training.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years’ UK practice experience, is eager to study ICAEW ACA, and demonstrates strong numerical, analytical and communication abilities.

Qualifications

• Ideally 1-2 years' experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• Keen to study ICAEW ACA qualification.
• Good numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
• Confident communication skills and a professional approach with clients.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts for a varied portfolio of clients.
• Supporting the preparation of accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
• Assisting with bookkeeping and the maintenance of accurate financial records.
• Preparing VAT returns and supporting related compliance work.
• Liaising with clients to obtain information and resolve queries.
• Supporting senior members of the team with day-to-day accounts and general practice assignments.
• Developing technical knowledge and practical accounting skills through on-the-job training and professional study.
