Job description

THE COMPANY
A well-regarded company based in Lichfield is seeking an experienced Accounts Supervisor with payroll oversight to join their team on a permanent basis. Renowned in their sector for producing high-quality products, this business is committed to professionalism, excellence, and employee retention. THE ROLE
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounts Supervisor will play a key role within a large, collaborative finance team. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the accurate processing of all supplier transactions, ensuring compliance and attention to detail. Key duties will include:

  1. Managing the processing of purchase invoices with precision
  2. Supervising two staff members
  3. Reconciling supplier statements to the ledgers
  4. Coordinating payment runs as needed, including processing Proforma invoices
  5. Supporting the implementation and upkeep of financial controls, processes, and documentation
  6. Assisting and providing support to senior finance team members
  7. Developing and maintaining professional relationships with suppliers through telephone and email correspondence
  8. Managing month-end and year-end procedures, and participating in annual audits
  9. Conducting bank reconciliations and processing employee expenses
  10. Reconciling company cashbook
  11. Using SAGE
In addition to these core responsibilities, you will also have oversight of payroll activities, ensuring payroll processes are maintained accurately and efficiently. Your role will involve liaising with relevant departments and contributing to payroll-related queries.

REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in a similar finance or accounts role, along with:

  1. 5 years Purchase Ledger experience
  2. Strong oral and written communication skills
  3. Excellent organisational and administrative abilities
  4. Exceptional attention to detail, especially under pressure and within tight deadlines
  5. Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
  6. Competency in Excel, with the ability to use spreadsheets to a basic level
  7. Ideally, GCSEs in Maths and English, and experience with ERP systems
  8. Experience or knowledge of payroll is highly advantageous
