TPF Recruitment, the leading accountancy practice recruiters in the South, are delighted to be supporting a highly regarded and growing accountancy practice with the recruitment of a Qualified Practice Accountant / Assistant Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified accountant looking to take the next step in their career within a varied business services environment. The role combines technical accounting, client management and team leadership, with responsibility for reviewing work and supporting the development of junior team members.

You will work with a diverse portfolio of UK and international businesses, gaining exposure to management accounts, statutory accounts, VAT, PAYE, financial reporting and advisory work.

The Role

You will play an important role within the team, overseeing the delivery and review of accounts and financial work whilst acting as a trusted adviser to clients.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing and reviewing management accounts and statutory accounts for UK and international businesses
• Providing technical guidance and support on accounting matters
• Reviewing monthly, quarterly and annual VAT returns
• Advising clients on VAT and PAYE matters
• Supporting start up businesses with their accounting and financial requirements
• Managing UK financial reporting for limited companies, LLPs, partnerships and sole traders
• Assisting with the implementation of accounting and financial systems
• Providing advice across a range of business and accounting matters
• Managing and developing client relationships
• Acting as a key point of contact for clients and delivering a high standard of service
• Delegating work and managing workloads within the team
• Training, mentoring and reviewing junior members of staff
• Supporting the continued improvement of systems and processes
• Using technology to improve efficiency and client service

Requirements

• Recently qualified ACA, ACCA or equivalent
• Strong technical knowledge across management and statutory accounting
• Previous experience within an accountancy practice
• Confident reviewing accounts and financial information
• Good understanding of VAT and PAYE
• Experience working with a varied portfolio of clients
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Confident managing and developing client relationships
• Comfortable delegating work and supporting junior team members
• Professional, organised and committed to delivering high quality work
• Strong IT and accounting software skills
• A collaborative team player who enjoys supporting colleagues and contributing to the wider team
