Job Responsibilities:
- Supervise and mentor junior team members, providing technical guidance and support for their development
- Manage a portfolio of clients, acting as their primary point of contact
- Review and finalize financial statements, tax returns, and management accounts prepared by junior staff
- Identify and resolve complex accounting issues and discrepancies
- Monitor team workload and delegate tasks to meet deadlines
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members
- Prepare high-quality financial statements and accounts for complex clients
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies
- Liaise with clients to gather information and discuss financial matters
- Implement quality control procedures to maintain high standards of work
- Participate in client meetings and present financial information
- Contribute to practice development initiatives and process improvements
- Report to managers/partners on team performance and client matters
- Assist with training programs for junior accountants and apprentices
- Stay current with changes in accounting standards and tax legislation
The Successful Applicant:
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), or AAT with over 10 years of practice experience
- Proven experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
- Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax legislation (must have UK practice experience)
- Excellent client relationship management skills and confidence in client-facing situations
- Experience managing multiple deadlines and prioritizing effectively
- Proficient with accounting software (Desirable: Xero, Tax calc)
- Ability to review financial statements and identify errors
- Experience handling complex accounting scenarios and business structures
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
- Proactive approach to team development and continuous improvement
- Ability to work independently while supporting a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Commercial awareness and understanding of clients' business needs
What’s on Offer:
Starting salary of at least £45,000-£55,000 (DOE). 25 days of annual leave, plus an extra day off for your birthday (excluding bank holidays).
