Job Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members, providing technical guidance and support for their development
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, acting as their primary point of contact
  • Review and finalize financial statements, tax returns, and management accounts prepared by junior staff
  • Identify and resolve complex accounting issues and discrepancies
  • Monitor team workload and delegate tasks to meet deadlines
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members
  • Prepare high-quality financial statements and accounts for complex clients
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies
  • Liaise with clients to gather information and discuss financial matters
  • Implement quality control procedures to maintain high standards of work
  • Participate in client meetings and present financial information
  • Contribute to practice development initiatives and process improvements
  • Report to managers/partners on team performance and client matters
  • Assist with training programs for junior accountants and apprentices
  • Stay current with changes in accounting standards and tax legislation
The Successful Applicant:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), or AAT with over 10 years of practice experience
  • Proven experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax legislation (must have UK practice experience)
  • Excellent client relationship management skills and confidence in client-facing situations
  • Experience managing multiple deadlines and prioritizing effectively
  • Proficient with accounting software (Desirable: Xero, Tax calc)
  • Ability to review financial statements and identify errors
  • Experience handling complex accounting scenarios and business structures
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
  • Proactive approach to team development and continuous improvement
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of clients' business needs
What’s on Offer:

Starting salary of at least £45,000-£55,000 (DOE). 25 days of annual leave, plus an extra day off for your birthday (excluding bank holidays).
