Accounts & Payroll Manager

Location: Derbyshire
Salary: £30k- £35k (DOE) Hybrid Working

Are you looking to gain valuable experience in payroll and accounts? This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who is AAT part-qualified or looking to expand their expertise in a supportive and growing business. Our client, a respected organisation in the engineering and technical services sector, is seeking an Accounts & Payroll Manager to join their close-knit team in Derby.

Role Overview

As the Accounts & Payroll Manager, you will play a key role in managing daily financial operations, ensuring accuracy in payroll processing, and supporting the accounts function. This position is ideal for someone eager to gain experience in payroll, accounts payable, and financial reporting while benefiting from strong mentorship and career development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Payroll Management: Oversee timesheet allocation from field operatives for payroll processing.
  2. Accounts Payable: Process invoices, manage payments, and reconcile accounts, ensuring discounts are recorded.
  3. Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing end-of-month accounts, including trial balance and profit & loss statements.
  4. WIP Management: Monitor project progress and ensure margins are applied.
  5. Collaboration: Work with staff, operatives, suppliers, and external payroll providers.
What We're Looking For
  1. AAT part-qualified, working towards full qualification.
  2. Experience in payroll processing, accounts payable, and receivable.
  3. Proficiency in invoice reconciliation and month-end financial duties.
  4. General understanding of accounting software (Xero experience is a plus).
  5. Positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and a team-oriented approach.
