Job summary

Portfolio Payroll is partnering with a reputable accountancy practice in Altrincham to recruit an Accounts Assistant with 2-3 years' finance experience. You will support full end-to-end processes including AP/AR, VAT, reconciliations and some payroll administration.

The role suits a candidate either AAT/ACCA qualified or qualified by experience, with familiarity of Sage, Xero or IRIS. Salary up to £35,000, with study support and clear progression within a growing practice.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years' finance experience (practice or industry).
• AAT / ACCA qualified or QBE (or qualified by experience).
• Strong understanding of double-entry, reconciliations, and VAT.
• Strong understanding of end to end Payroll.
• Confident communicator with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage a varied workload independently.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end payroll and accounts - journals, reconciliations, month-end support
• Accounts Payable - processing invoices, supplier payments
• Accounts Receivable - credit control, customer accounts
• VAT returns - preparation and submission
• Payroll admin - assisting with monthly payroll tasks
• Bank reconciliations - maintaining accurate financial records
• General finance admin - filing, data entry, client communication
• Software - Sage / Xero / IRIS preferred
