Job summary

Vitae Financial Recruitment is seeking an experienced AP & Treasury Manager for an 18-month fixed-term contract in Hemel Hempstead. The role is hybrid, with three days in the office, and oversees Accounts Payable and Treasury across a multi-entity environment, leading a small team.

You will own end-to-end AP, manage banking relationships, support month-end and year-end processes, and act as a senior contact for stakeholders while driving process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop a team of AP and Treasury professionals.
• Take ownership of end-to-end Accounts Payable, from invoice processing through payment and reconciliation.
• Oversee payment runs, payment proposals and approvals.
• Escalate supplier queries, invoice issues and payment-related matters.
• Maintain supplier and banking information with appropriate controls.
• Oversee daily bank reconciliations and cash postings.
• Manage banking mandates, access and signatory requirements.
• Liaise with banks and internal stakeholders on banking administration.
• Ensure controls and authorisation procedures are maintained.
• Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end processes.
• Act as a key user for ERP system, supporting users and improvements.
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage multiple priorities across a multi-entity portfolio.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and controls.
• Provide cover across the wider finance function when required.

AP & Treasury Manager - 18-Month Fixed-Term Contract

Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire

Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days per week in the office

The Opportunity

An established and growing organisation is looking to appoint an experienced AP & Treasury Manager on an 18-month fixed-term contract.

This is a broad and hands-on management role, responsible for overseeing the Accounts Payable and Treasury functions across a complex, multi-entity environment. You will lead a small team, manage key operational processes and act as a senior point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.

The role offers excellent exposure to AP, treasury, banking, systems and process improvement, making it an attractive opportunity for someone who enjoys combining operational responsibility with team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop a team of AP and Treasury professionals
• Take ownership of the end-to-end Accounts Payable process, from invoice processing through to payment and reconciliation
• Oversee payment runs, payment proposals and approval processes
• Act as the escalation point for supplier queries, invoice issues and payment-related matters
• Maintain accurate supplier and banking information, ensuring appropriate controls are followed
• Oversee daily bank reconciliations and cash postings
• Manage banking mandates, access and signatory requirements
• Liaise with banks and internal stakeholders regarding banking administration and changes
• Ensure appropriate controls and authorisation procedures are consistently maintained
• Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end processes
• Act as a key user for the organisation's ERP system, supporting users and contributing to system and process improvements
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Manage multiple priorities across a complex, multi-entity portfolio
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and ways of working
• Provide cover and support across the wider finance function when required

About You

We are looking for an experienced AP and/or Treasury professional who is comfortable managing both people and processes.

You will ideally have:

• Strong experience across Accounts Payable / Purchase Ledger and Treasury
• Previous experience managing or supervising a finance team
• Good understanding of banking operations, payment processes and bank mandates
• Experience working within a multi-entity environment
• Strong attention to detail and a good understanding of financial controls
• Experience with an ERP system; IFS experience would be advantageous
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines
• A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
• Strong Excel/data-handling skills

A recognised accounting qualification such as AAT, part-qualified ACCA/CIMA or equivalent would be advantageous.
