Job summary

Hays Specialist Recruitment in Heywood, Greater Manchester, is seeking an Accounts Payable Supervisor for a temporary ongoing assignment in a busy finance team. The role involves managing supplier invoices, credit notes and AP tasks, supervising a small team, and ensuring accurate ledgers while meeting deadlines in a shared services environment.

You will collaborate with the AP Manager, maintain strong supplier relationships, produce reports, and help drive continuous improvement in processes

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a supervisory/senior Accounts Payable role.
• Ability to prioritise and produce reports.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• High attention to detail and customer-focused approach.
• Experience in a shared service centre and high-volume invoicing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the processing of supplier invoices and credit notes.
• Respond to supplier and internal account queries and escalations.
• Perform supplier statement reconciliations.
• Investigate discrepancies and keep ledgers accurate.
• Monitor debit and credit balances and PO maintenance.
• Provide additional support across the finance function as required.
• Work closely with the AP Manager and AP team.

Your new companyAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Payable Supervisor to join a busy finance team in Heywood.

This position plays a key role in ensuring supplier payments and account records are maintained accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities Working closely with the Accounts Payable Manager and the wider AP Team.

Working within a team of 12, you will be responsible for assisting with the Smooth running of the AP department, supporting team members daily and allocation of works.

As well as supervisor duties, you will :

• Working within a shared service centre Managing the processing of supplier invoices and credit notes Responding to and resolving supplier and internal account queries escalations Carrying out supplier statement reconciliations Investigating discrepancies and ensuring ledgers remain accurate Monitoring and maintaining debit and credit balances Completing purchase order maintenance and closures Providing additional support across the finance function where required What you'll need to succeed Previous experience within a supervisory/ senior Accounts Payable position Ability to prioritise Production of reports Able to work calmly and help others within a challenging role, working to deadlines Shared service experience preferred High volume invoices Confident using Microsoft Office and finance systems Strong communication and relationship-building skills Customer-focused approach with excellent attention to detail Ability to work effectively as part of a team Exposure to Workday or AI-driven technology would be beneficial What you'll get in return Temporary ongoing position £circa
