Job summary

New Hall School is seeking a conscientious Assistant Accountant to support the Finance Department, with a focus on Accounts Payable workflows and supplier management.

The role suits a graduate or early-career finance professional and offers progression towards an AAT qualification while working in a leading independent school environment.

Key duties include purchase ledger administration, VAT handling, and assisting with monthly and year-end close procedures within a collaborative finance team.

Qualifications

• Experience in a finance or accounting environment.
• Proficiency with purchasing, accounts payable and expense management software.
• Awareness of VAT and payment processes is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices using Lightyear and route through approval workflow.
• Prepare and support payment runs including BACS and international payments.
• Reconcile supplier accounts and the purchase ledger monthly.
• Support month-end close, prepayments and accrual journals as required.
• Assist with audit requirements and maintain controls.
